Jubilee Project Was a Blast!

The Blossom Club was awarded  funding from The National Lottery Community Fund for our project 'Sew Much Fun ' to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.  We had many members of the community, in particular, young primary school children and the over 65 age group.   We collated all the bunting pieces from the children and the community and had local volunteers and seamstresses sew it together. We successfully made over 500metres of Jubilee Bunting out of recycled fabrics that were decorated creatively and now will be displayed at the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

We believe our project has  strengthened relationships and has brought individuals in the community together, this has helped connect people accross generations, especially when loneliness, due to the pandemic, has been an issue.  Within these workshops it has given the chance for people to learn new skills and they have had an opportunity to meet others within the community after periods of hardship and loneliness.

The Blossom Club was delighted as we have brought individuals in the community together, this will help connect people across generations .

We even had a visit from BBC Radio WM  on the final workshop who were so enthusiastic about our project the interview was broadcast over three consecutive days.
