Club Manifesto

1. Sewing classes & creative workshops for the local community

Participants will be supported in a safe environment to trade skills, share creative thinking and encourage personal and group well-being through engagement with creative arts.

We provide education in arts, environment and textiles through outreach and workshop programmes to members of our community, schools, charities, and other community organisations, enabling collaboration and projects that are designed by our diverse community.

2. Create & deliver community heritage projects

Our Community projects give participants  a focus to work together whilst learning and contributing to the historic and present tapestry that makes up our community. They learn to provide meaningful products with a new purpose of benefiting the community and future generations. Projects are undertaken in consultation and evolve organically with our volunteer groups. Working together is a fantastic outlet for positivity, social action and community spirit.

3. Reuse and recycling of fabrics and clothing as an antidote to fast fashion

We provide a welcoming working space for sewing with resources that have been donated to us that would otherwise be discarded to landfill.  We promote and provide a robust textile waste management service; receiving donations and processing and re-purposing fabrics to help the environment and encourage reuse. We provide workshops that will give people the skills to make and mend and make alterations to garments.

4. Mentorship through the provision of sewing to those not in education, training or employment.

Through the provision of sewing we provide lived experience mentors who will enable participants to develop transferable work skills, provide access to qualifications, work experience, and improve their opportunities to move closer to the world of education, training or employment.
